Vintage Rods and Tackle

From time to time we will offer vintage and used fly fishing tackle. Please check back often for new additions. We are always interested in purchasing or taking consignments of used cane rods, but visitors please take note: we do not provide free tackle appraisals! Because the value of any fishing collectible is largely based on condition, and because researching values is so time consuming, we can not offer free, sight-unseen tackle appraisals. If you'd like us to appraise your tackle for a fee, please contact us for more information and we'd be happy to assist you. If you've arrived here via a search engine because you've found an old piece of tackle and hope to learn its value, we are very sorry but we are unable to help you without seeing the tackle and charging a fee. Thanks!

Additional Note: All items are covered by our 3-day return policy. The customer can inspect or lawn cast any item for up to 3 days after receipt. If you receive an item and wish to return it, you will receive a full refund provided it's returned promptly in the condition it was sent. All returned items must be insured for the purchase price and packed appropriately. Please contact us before returning any item.

We keep our consignment rates low to help you save money. Because selling used tackle is so time consuming, please don't ask for things like additional pictures of the Orvis or South Bend rod you might see here. The single best way for you to decide on an item is to send us a check for it and inspect it yourself. We do everything possible to describe items fairly...it does us no good to send you an item that you will only want to return.

Made famous by their association w/Charles Ritz, the P&M parabolic rods are casting machines. I took this out on the lawn with a Dt5 333 and was effortlessly laying out 50-60' and could do more with just a slight double haul.. I think this rod would actually prefer a WF6, or even a DT6 in the hands of a person who can slow their casting stroke and let the rod do the work.

Forget about all the crap you've read about parabolic rods. The stuff about requiring 'pinpoint timing', etc that was written more to stroke the egos of the writers then anything. Without fail, if I'm at a show and put a parabolic into the hands of a person who doesn't know it's a parabolic, they love the rod and are quite shocked to learn that they are easily able to cast these 'difficult' rods.

A great rod for big water fishing. With the tips being relatively heavy, perfect for streamer, small poppers and large hair bugs, weighted flies, as well as normal dry fly work. Bag may be original, case is a replacement aluminum. $550. SOLD!

New Listing! Fenwick Voyageur Glass Model FF756-4 7 1/2', 4-piece for DT6 line. Brown wraps tipped white. D/L screw lock seat w/Young-style grip. This typical brown-blanked Fenwick is in outstanding condition...its original owner is a good friend of ours who takes great care of his equipment. All of the original decals are present and in great shape.

It's kind of a hoot seeing the resurgance in glass rods of late, with some of the new higher end rods running $500 +. Newer anglers are discovering that some of this 'old technology' really made for great rods, and of the era the Fenwicks were amongst the very highest regarded for quality and castability. This one is from the mid-70's, and has its original labeled brown and white triangular case but the bag is a well made replacement in plaid fabric like the original. Labeled for DT6, but would be nice with a DT5 and a faster casting stroke.  Ah, nostaliga......$125 SOLD!.

Newly Listed! J.D. Wagner 8' 5-6 wt., 3p., 2t. Signature Series Model: Based on the Leonard Hunt model, this is the first rod we ever made in this taper(serial #1). Note: we have just received a large consignment of vintage cane rods,  flyreels, glass spinning and baitcasting rods and reels. Most of the cane rods were made by noted Clevelander Sib Leotta. Sib was a world champion tournament caster, author and rodbuilder.

Many of these rods may have been made in conjunction with another Cleveland builder, Oros, as they bear quite a few cosmetic and structural similarities. As noted individually, these rods are not artistic masterpieces, but reflect the fact that they were made to fish with. Any of the rods listed will provide an excellent casting and fishing experience, at an unbeatable price.
