Since the introduction of their first reel in 1880, Hardy reels have long been a favorite of anglers worldwide. These reels are durable, functional and aesthetically pleasing on a fine cane rod. As an added bonus, Hardy reels have historically held a very high resale value and are collectibles in their own right, often passed down through generations as heirlooms. One factor in their timeless appeal is in their engineering: they are designed simply and elegantly and it is not uncommon to find a Hardy over 60 years old, still functioning perfectly!

Similar to the old MKIV series, these reels are made from aircraft quality aluminum barstock and feature an adjustable click and pawl drag, reversable for left and right hand wind, ventillated spool and backplate, ivorine handle, ball bearing construction.

Hardy has hit a home run with this new series: an affordable way to own a high-quality Hardy reel. These are fixed click reels for left or right hand wind, ventillated spool and frame, aluminum construction and spindle-less design, large central bearing for extra smooth operation. The exposed rim allows for palming large fish.

Hardy Lightweights

Since 1951 Hardy has produced over 100,000 of these reels and they have endured the test of time. These reels feature an anodized aluminum frame oxidized to a gunmetal and silver finish, dovetailed reel foot, nickel silver lineguard and reversible compensating click-check. The click is smooth, and sounds oh-so-sweet as a fish peels line from the spool! An absolutely fantastic value.

LRH Lightweight: At 3 3/16" diameter and 3 7/8 oz., this reel is versatile and a long time favorite of mine. In fact, I've owned and fished one since 1978! Although it shows some battle scars from years of use, it functions as well today as the day I bought it. Ample capacity for DT 4 or 5 lines. $395 plus shipping. Extra spool $145.

1928 St. George Junior Replica

Due to the enormous success of Hardy's re-issue of the famous Bougle model, the St. George has also been re-issued. At a diminutive 2 9/16" in diameter the reel is a perfect compliment to our light line rods. These reels feature bar stock aluminum construction, nickel silver circular lineguard, stove-enamelled and black lacquered finish, and an adjustable spring and pawl drag. Finally, production is limited to 1,500 reels (instant collectible!) and comes complete with a replica brown leather case. Available in right hand retrieve only. $495

1903 Bougle

Another fine reissue, the Bougle is a raised pillar design for extra line capacity and light weight. This reel features aluminum construction and an adjustable drag, and it looks 'just right' on a cane rod. This issue is limited to 1,000 reels and comes complete with a replica leather case. Cortland 444 Sylk Fly Lines

2004 saw the introduction of this fine product from Cortland: a synthetic line designed to feature some of the best attributes of genuine silk flylines, but with the convenience of a synthetic. The customer reviews so far have been outstanding, in fact one rodbuilder told me he was replacing all of his synthetic lines with the Cortland sylk. These lines are quite a bit smaller in diameter then a normal synthetic counterpart, and are therefor denser. ..just like the typical silk flyline. They also shoot and float very well, are supple, and possess a very slick coating.
