Godfrey Fly Reels- The Epitome of Classic Design

We are proud to be agents for the beautiful and functional reelcrafting of Ted Godfrey. Inspired by the timeless designs of vom Hofe, these single action reels are the most classic aesthetic and functional mates for a fine split cane fly rod available.

Godfrey reels are covered by a 10 year warantee, and are painstakingly crafted with precision in traditional materials: nickel silver, bronze and aluminum. We carry both the Godfrey Classic and the Godfrey Westminster models. Both feature an adjustable drag with a pleasing click- solid but not overbearing- and the classic serpentine handle. Functionally, both the Classic and Westminster are exactly the same. The only difference between the two series of reels is the location of the drag adjustment. On the Classic reels, the drag knob is located on the center of the backplate, on the Westminster models the drag lever is located below the center post. Both series of reels are easily reversable, and extra spools are available.

The Bimetal

The Bi-Metal Reel is a recreation of the early Leonard reels, featuring carved nickel silver side plates in a bronze reel frame. Instead of a simple click as found on the original Leonard rels, the Godfrey utilizes the Westminster-type adjustable click/drag mechanism.
